Commonly Asked Questions
Is there an age requirement to rent from you?
We try to work with clients who are actually 25 years and above due to our insurance policy restrictions. However, based on your circumstances, whenever possible, we always strive to be accommodating.
In case you are below 25 years, try checking in with your insurance provider to find out if you would be insured for rental vehicles, particularly for pick-up trucks, after which you can contact us.
Are your rooftop tents family friendly?
Yes! Please keep in mind that using our rooftop camping vehicles you’ll have to climb up a little ladder. If this is a problem, we also provide an additional camping tent with all of our packages which you can set up on the ground next to the camper vehicle. This could be much more comfortable for both you and your kids.
What is the max. capacity of your trucks?
Our camper trucks sleep 3 individuals at most, though if there are more within your party, we do offer an extra tent, too. With this, we can easily allow for as much as five people. Each of our trucks has 5 seatbelts.
Are you offering surfboards?
Absolutely yes, our company offers both surfboards & boogie boards and fins upon request for a small fee. Just let us know in advance if you would like to rent one, so we can add it to your booking and have it ready for you at departure.
Can we get a guidebook or even a map with the best hiking trails and beaches to check out on Kauai?
Certainly, each vehicle has a Kauai guidebook which details maps and information on the best locations to see and camp out on Kauai.
Best Spots For Camping Out On Kauai & Information About Camping Permits
Can I visit any beach front to camp?
You could go to any beach, but you can only put up your camp in official camping grounds. This is the usual practice here on Kauai. We’ll supply you with a list of the top places to check out and also to go camping. Please remember that driving on the beaches is not permitted on Kauai.
Is “wild camping” permitted or can we just go to official camping grounds? If so, what is the fee?
No, wild camping is not permitted in Kauai. You may only go camping in official locations with a current camping permit. The fee is around $3 per night stay in many Kauai county campgrounds, but private camping grounds could be a little more. The good thing about these campsites is that you will have full access to facilities, including showers, washrooms and picnic tables. Please be aware that if you decide to camp on the county campgrounds, you are only permitted to use the ground tent.

Before our arrival in Kauai, do we need to get a Kauai camping permit?
It is a better to obtain your Kauai camping permits prior to your journey. For most private campgrounds, which we always recommend first, you may secure your licenses on the internet and also on-the-spot in the designated office.
If you decide to stay at a county campsite and use a ground tent, you may request permits by visiting the “County of Kauai Camping Information” webpage.
Non-residents must pay three dollars per night in advance. Accepted payment methods with this application are cashier’s checks and also money orders. However, it is not absolutely necessary to reserve your camping permits before your arrival. You can also get them at the different permit offices on the island, which is typically easier.
What is the processing time for obtaining camping permits?
If you choose to stay at a state or private camping ground, both online and in person reservations are possible. If you choose to stay at a county camping ground, mail-in applications are easy to submit, but it can take quite some time to receive your permits. You might receive your permits upon arrival to Kauai at the designated permit offices on Kauai; in-person you will get them immediately.
